Results From Our Pupil Survey

Since September school council has analysed our results from our annual pupil survey. They were very pleased with them as they showed what a great school we are. Next steps they have identified include:

  • reducing our extended transition in Summer from two weeks to one
  • establishing more displays of children’s work outside classrooms around school
  • investigating the possibility of water fountains in classrooms

School Friends Information

We will be posting information to do with the activities of our school friends and supporters in this part of the website. Keep an eye out for more information.

Life in modern, democratic Britain

School council help promote the following key British values across school:

  • democracy
  • the rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect and tolerance of those with differing faiths and beliefs

To this end, they will be visiting Selby District Council to see democracy in action. They will be taking part in a mock council meeting about a real-life issue and sharing this experience on their return back to school. Watch this space…

Head Teacher Welcome Message

Welcome to Selby Abbey Church of England Primary School! My name is Jo Jennings and I am privileged to have been Head teacher of the school since January 2008. At Selby Abbey School our main aim is to achieve the very highest standards of educational learning, within a caring, exciting and stimulating environment. We work hard to ensure all pupils achieve their full potential and are dedicated to supporting the personal development and wellbeing of all learners within our school. I have a husband and two sons who help me to keep focused on the concerns that all parents experience. With our children, staff and governors working together, we do everything we can to make school a happy, exciting and safe place for everyone to learn, grow and achieve. There is a clear vision for the school with our children and their learning at the heart of it. Central to the vision is the belief that children learn most effectively in a safe environment where learning is fun and linked with real life and inter-related subjects, and when parents, carers and school work closely together. We hope that this website gives you a flavour of how your child will be encouraged to develop his or her academic abilities to the full and any other special interests. We have an open door policy and encourage visits from prospective parents and carers. I recommend Selby Abbey Church of England Primary School to you and hope that if your child is not already here, you will soon be sending them to our friendly and vibrant school. You will certainly receive a warm welcome from staff and pupils alike. Jo Jennings
